Yokohama Tire Launches Educational Video Series on Tire Safety

New 'Pit Crew' videos coincided with National Tire Safety Week, emphasizing maintenance importance for drivers.

Yokohama Tire has introduced a new educational video series featuring its ‘Pit Crew’ characters, aiming to teach drivers about the significance of tire safety and maintenance. The five lighthearted videos were released in conjunction with the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association’s National Tire Safety Week initiative, which concluded July 4.

The series positions Yokohama Tire’s Pit Crew as a key resource for consumers seeking to understand tire care. These videos are designed to make learning about essential tire topics engaging and accessible.

“In these videos, the energetic Yokohama Pit Crew characters (who are also featured in the recent “Pit Life” commercial spot) are front-and-center showing consumers the significance of tire safety and care in a fun-to-watch format,” said Alan Holtschneider, Yokohama’s senior director of marketing.

The first video is titled “Know Your Tire Pressure.” Additional videos, posted daily throughout Tire Safety Week, delved into vital subjects including tire alignment, tire rotation, reading and understanding sidewall markings, and proper tire storage.

These educational resources are available on Yokohama’s social media channels. Viewers can find the videos on platforms such as www.facebook.com/yokohamatire and www.instagram.com/yokohamatire.

Holtschneider further emphasized the critical role tires play in vehicle performance. “It’s important for consumers to know that tires influence the braking, steering, comfort, handling, safety and fuel efficiency of the vehicle, and that they are also the only parts that actually touch the road,” he stated.

The campaign also aligns with Yokohama’s brand identity, leveraging its heritage in motorsports. “Capitalizing on our motorsports heritage and ongoing racing presence, we think these videos stay true to our brand and will help educate them on understanding tires and the significance of tire safety in a fun new presentation,” Holtschneider added.
