PETRONAS Lubricants partners with Blanchard Racing Team for 2023 Supercars Super2 season

The move will see Aaron Love's maiden season for BRT come under the PETRONAS Lubricants banner, a brand known for its on-track success.

PETRONAS Lubricants is set to make its debut in the Supercars Super2 Series, partnering with the Blanchard Racing Team (BRT) in 2023. The move will see Aaron Love’s maiden season for BRT come under the PETRONAS Lubricants banner, a brand known for its on-track success.

The PETRONAS Syntium offering boasts 28 years of technical experience earned in Formula One, culminating in the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team claiming an impressive eight constructor’s titles and seven driver’s championships since 2014.

PETRONAS Syntium, which leverages CoolTech+ technology, aims to maximize efficiency by controlling engine-damaging heat, protecting the engine’s critical parts, lowering fuel consumption, and reducing emissions for more sustainable motoring. Love, a product of Formula 4 and the Porsche Motorsport ladder, finished second in the final standings of the 2022 Australian Carrera Cup, missing two events due to conflicting race commitments overseas.

Love will drive the Ford Mustang that BRT has utilized over the past two seasons in the top tier of the sport. “Having PETRONAS Lubricants’ support for the year is definitely a pleasure and really cool thing for the team and myself, especially when we know its history and the success it has had internationally in motorsport,” said Love.

For PETRONAS Lubricants, the decision to partner with a rising star like Love was easy. “This involvement with the Supercars series in Australia is a natural progression of the long-term involvement that PETRONAS Lubricants has had with motor racing across the world,” said Amarpreet Singh Ahuja, CEO for PETRONAS Lubricants International Australia Pty Ltd.

BRT co-principal Tim Blanchard said, “We are thrilled to welcome Aaron and PETRONAS Lubricants to BRT for 2023. This is an important step for BRT, and we are looking forward to what we can achieve this year.”

The Super2 season kicks off at the Newcastle 500 from March 10-12, before traveling west to Perth, then Townsville, Sandown, Bathurst, and Adelaide.

The offseason has been a busy one for the entire BRT, with the squad not only expanding to two cars but also taking on the in-house build of the team’s first Gen3 Ford Mustang. The new build was recently debuted by Blanchard and the team’s other 2023 recruit Todd Hazelwood at Winton Motor Raceway, making it the first of the fresh fleet of 25 cars to hit the track.
