Inaugural FAAS Sustainability Day to kickstart in Bologna amid Futurmotive – Expo & Talks

This initiative comes as Futurmotive – Expo & Talks, an international expo shedding light on the automotive industry’s green transition, partners with Forum on Automotive Aftermarket Sustainability (FAAS).

The automotive sector is steering towards a greener future with the advent of the first-ever FAAS Sustainability Day, set to be unveiled in Bologna, Italy, Nov. 17.

This initiative comes as Futurmotive – Expo & Talks, an international expo shedding light on the automotive industry’s green transition, partners with Forum on Automotive Aftermarket Sustainability (FAAS). The expo, scheduled from Nov. 16-18 at the Bologna Exhibition Centre, will be the backdrop for FAAS’s annual Plenary Meeting as well.

FAAS, spearheaded by dominant European bodies—CLEPA (European Association of Automotive Suppliers) and FIGIEFA (European Association of Automotive Parts Distributors), progressed into a legally registered, non-profit European association earlier this year. The alliance, now boasting 28 major companies from automotive suppliers to parts wholesalers, is fueling synergies and activities to accelerate the sustainable metamorphosis of the European aftermarket sector.

The Sustainability Day is envisaged as a melting pot for the automotive aftermarket leaders and innovators, opening doors for knowledge exchange, networking, and delving into groundbreaking eco-friendly innovations. The itinerary is packed with engaging sessions covering emissions reduction, green services, and sustainable logistics, aimed at navigating the participants through a transformative journey towards a greener aftermarket ecosystem.

“The first FAAS Sustainability Day will be the opportunity to expand on the topics that are driving today’s agenda at all levels: from decarbonization to new green products, from operations to value chain,” said Sylvia Gotzen, Chief Executive of FIGIEFA, “this years’ edition will be the opportunity to learn from the experts and establish long-lasting connections that will drive the industry in the years to come.”

Frank Schlehuber, a Senior Consultant on Market Affairs at CLEPA, highlighted that FAAS is nearing a significant milestone: transitioning from a mere initiative to a Non-Profit International Association. This new phase is aimed at representing and aiding the Automotive Aftermarket in its journey towards adopting more sustainable business operations. “Let’s make the FAAS the forum to leverage all the creativity and relevant synergies that will boost the sustainability performance of our sector and make it fit for the future!” he added.

Renzo Servadei, the CEO of Autopromotec, said that the organization is privileged to host such a significant event for the whole automotive ecosystem during Futurmotive – Expo & Talks. “We share a common perspective on the future of the industry, and an equal enthusiasm for teaming up, combining different knowledge and experiences,” he said. “I think that Futurmotive – Expo & Talks will be the perfect framework for the beginning of FAAS activities.”

Emanuele Vicentini, overseeing International Developments at Autopromotec, emphasized that the notion of sustainability is profoundly pertinent in all activities we engage in daily, and this holds true especially for the automotive aftermarket sector. This sector encompasses companies that are part of Futurmotive – Expo & Talks as well as Autopromotec, he said, adding, “At the same time, trade shows are also developing processes to make them more responsive to the concepts of sustainability, under environmental, social and governance perspective. Finally, the FAAS Symposium brings great internationality to the “Futurmotive – Expo & Talks” project and this makes us very happy.”

The agenda for the day is brimming with notable panels and presentations from industry bigwigs like Bosch, LKQ, BCG and IBM, addressing critical challenges and innovations needed to hit net-zero and other sustainability targets. Attendees are in for a robust networking milieu with peers, customers, suppliers and avant-garde startups from across the continent, besides exploring the best of innovations displayed by Futurmotive – Expo and Talks exhibitors, thereby opening avenues for international networking and business opportunities.
