IAA MOBILITY 2023 is poised to transform Munich into a real-world laboratory for climate-neutral mobility from Sept. 5-10, 2023, offering an extensive selection of vehicles for visitors to test on both city streets and highways.

This annual mobility and sustainability event highlights the commitment towards green mobility and technological innovation.

Through the IAA Experience, the interactive segment of IAA MOBILITY, visitors can take various modes of transportation for a test drive. From cutting-edge automobiles to micro-mobility devices like e-scooters and cargo bikes, the range on display is broad.

Bicycles and e-bikes can be tried out on the special test track laid out in Munich’s English Garden.

Six starting and ending points are planned in the IAA Open Space in downtown Munich, where more than 150 vehicles will be available for trial. Test vehicles will include offerings from automotive giants such as Audi, BMW, Ford, Lotus, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Vinfast, Volkswagen and XPENG.

In addition, IAA Summit at the Messe München will present vehicles from Hesai, Mahle, Microvision, Mobileye, VW, and XEV for testing, exclusive to trade visitors with tickets.

The testing process will be organized independently by the participating exhibitors, with advance bookings available via individual exhibitor booking tools. Details and updates will be accessible on the official IAA MOBILITY website and app, with registrations for on-site test drives open from July onwards. Given the intense interest in 2021, early booking is encouraged.

An eco-friendly shuttle service will also be available, connecting all downtown squares across approximately three miles at 5-7 minute intervals. Not only will these shuttles provide convenience, but they also serve as demonstrations of green technology, powered by electricity, hydrogen or BioLNG. This offers authorities, investors, and experts an opportunity to sample these technologies firsthand. Buses from IAV, Ikarus/Trasco, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Development and Energy and Webasto will be available for testing in the shuttle service.

IAA MOBILITY 2023 is also introducing a new tool to aid attendees: the MOBIX app. With the average German motorist spending at least 41 hours per year searching for a parking spot, the app aims to provide a solution to this, and to finding charging stations for electric vehicles. MOBIX allows users to reserve and pay for parking and charging spots through the app, significantly enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of inner-city traffic.

The organizers of IAA MOBILITY 2023 encourage the public to get involved in providing private parking spots and charging stations for the event. Michael Reuter, the founder and CEO of MOBIX Marketplace, said, “We’re making inner-city traffic as sustainable as possible,” he said. Anyone wanting to provide a parking spot or charging station in Munich, contact the MOBIX team at business@mobix.ai.

Vinfast will have several vehicles to test out at the show.

Ultimately, IAA MOBILITY 2023 is about more than just displaying the future of transportation. It’s about getting people involved, making them participants in the mobility revolution, and embracing the collective challenge of moving towards a more sustainable future. This event is set to be the platform for interactive, firsthand experiences that will shape the future of mobility for years to come.
