Customs policy has definitely been a headache for car firms that depend a lot on global supply chains. With high tariffs, trading with overseas manufacturers has gotten tricky, pushing car makers to look for more stable sources for their parts.

In uncertain times like these, you need partners you can really count on. And Poland is definitely one of those.

Even though Poland doesn’t have a famous automotive brand like Italy, Germany or the UK, it’s become a major player in making car parts and components in Europe. Poland has a solid and mature manufacturing and engineering base for the auto industry. It’s a place where high‑quality spare parts are made for global distributors — plus software and engineering solutions for the sector.

The ABC of the Polish automotive industry

The automotive sector is undoubtedly a pillar of the Polish economy. It employs around 315,000 people in Poland and accounts for nearly percent of the country’s GDP. In 2023, Polish factories rolled out 574,600 cars and light commercial vehicles (up to 3.5 tons), which is almost 37% more than the year before. One crucial fact about the Polish automotive industry is that it mainly focuses on producing car parts and components. Of course, a large part of the total production value comes from factories of major international brands. For example, the biggest automotive plants in Poland belong to Stellantis and Volkswagen.

From large international corporations to family-owned enterprises with decades of tradition, the Polish automotive industry creates a solid and stable ecosystem that meets the needs of millions of drivers worldwide. And it does so with scale and ambition – offering a wide portfolio of specialized, high-quality products adapted both to technological challenges and to the needs of end users.

In 2024, the Polish automotive industry exported products worth EUR 17.5 billion. The main export destinations for Polish automotive are Germany, France, the Czech Republic and Italy. The American market looks promising and ranks high among the most popular export destinations in certain product categories. A good example is motorcycles, with exports from Poland to the USA reaching a notable fourth place in 2024, amounting to a value of USD 15 326 786. In 2024, the value of exports of parts and trucks (EUR 7.31 billion) exceeded the export value of passenger cars (EUR 6.58 billion). It is no coincidence that Poland is now the seventh-largest exporter of automotive parts in the world.

Types of car parts are produced in Poland

A distinctive feature of the Polish automotive sector is its strong focus on the production of parts rather than complete vehicles. This sets it apart from the automotive industries in other Central and Eastern European countries. Because of that, Poles over the years have really specialized in this area, bringing component production almost to perfection.

Producing top‑quality car parts is Poland’s trademark. Polish automotive parts supply various brands worldwide. Polish manufacturers specialize in producing key automotive components such as batteries, glass, tires, drivetrain elements, lamps and seats.

According to the 2024 report by the Polish Automotive Group, the Polish automotive industry produced, among other things, 7 million lead-acid batteries, 47 million tires, 364 thousand brakes and brake system components, as well as 82.3 million seat belts. Polish automotive parts are present in almost every part of the world. In 2023, sales reached 157 countries globally. Polish suppliers are ready for intercontinental cooperation with partners from the USA.

Innovation and ecology – Accelerating Toward the Future of Mobility

Polish producers are focusing on sustainable development. In 2024, the market value of remanufactured parts in Poland reached PLN 1.7 billion, growing at an annual rate of 6.5%. One of the specialties of the Polish automotive industry is LPG-powered engine technology. Polish companies cooperate directly with OEMs in developing this technology.

It is also a hub for development of technologies that reshape the future of mobility. Poland is among the European leaders in autonomous driving systems. Polish R&D centers are already creating innovations that will set the direction for the mobility of tomorrow.
