The upcoming Automechanika event in Frankfurt promises a wealth of activities for professionals in the body and paint sector.

Running Sept. 10-14, 2024, Automechanika Frankfurt will feature lectures on repairing electric vehicles, hands-on workshops, live painting demonstrations and a lounge for expert meetings.

Additionally, an after-work event on Friday will provide further networking opportunities. A highlight will be presentations on classic cars, with fans able to vote online for their favorite vehicle to be showcased.

Michael Johannes, Vice President Mobility & Logistics at Messe Frankfurt, emphasized the themes of training, industry transformation and emotional engagement.

“Training and further education, the transformation of the industry and emotionalization are core themes that we have defined for the entire Automechanika brand with 14 trade fairs worldwide,” Johannes said. “In Frankfurt, this concept is clearly reflected in Hall 11. Over the past few months, the team has worked with industry insiders from the sector and the media to create a diverse and varied program on highly topical themes.”

Focus on electromobility and collision repair

Electromobility will be a key topic, with experts discussing the technical challenges and costs of repairing high-voltage drives. Panels with international representatives from leading paint manufacturers and the bodywork industry will explore the global development of the collision repair business.

The traditional “Schadentalk” will also be extended this year to include new “Schadenspots.” Notably, paint manufacturers are returning to Automechanika after a 20-year hiatus, exhibiting next to the central stage in Hall 11.1.

Classic cars take center stage

Classic and collectible cars will feature prominently. Panels will discuss new business models and the passion for historic vehicles, with Prof. Wolfgang Henseler explaining how tokens can turn classic cars into investments. Andy Schwietzer will talk about historic motorbikes as investments, and Tobias Reichle and Florian Urbitsch will share how they made Friedhelm Loh’s world-class collection accessible to the public. Presenter, actress and racing driver Eve Scheer will lead the stage program.

In addition to the stage program, visitors can enjoy live experiences. A selection of classic cars, including a vehicle from “Nationales Automuseum The Loh Collection,’ will be displayed, with the public voting online to choose which car will be showcased. The selection includes rare models like the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato and Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F1-2000.

A functional paint booth from Saicozero will allow live painting demonstrations for the first time at the trade fair.

“We are happy to be represented at Automechanika 2024 with a fully functional, state-of-the-art paint booth in the outdoor area of Hall 11. This will make live painting possible for the first time during the trade fair,” said Zoe Ghilardi, Marketing Communication Manager, Saicozero.

Certified workshops on high-voltage vehicle repairs, AI-based cost calculations, and other practical skills will be available in Hall 11.0. New workshop topics include smart repair, sustainable plastic repair, bonding, and bodywork for electric vehicles.

The “Rhein-Main-Klassik” rally will see 100 historic vehicles making a stop at the exhibition center. The week will culminate with an Afterwork Friday event, featuring live music and a spectacular evening program.
