CLEPA seeks new head of government affairs to drive advocacy in Brussels

CLEPA (European Association of Automotive Suppliers), a leading voice for the automotive supply industry, is actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Government Affairs to join its Brussels headquarters. This role will support CLEPA’s mission of promoting innovation, sustainability and growth within the automotive sector, the organization says.

CLEPA represents 120 international automotive suppliers and, through 12 national associations, more than 3,000 companies that provide cutting-edge components and technology for safe, smart and sustainable mobility. The industry invests more than €30 billion annually in research and development, employing approximately 1.7 million people across Europe. European automotive suppliers are recognized as global leaders in automotive technology, driven by substantial R&D investments exceeding €22 billion yearly.

As the new European legislature approaches, CLEPA aims to strengthen its advocacy efforts to support the industry’s transition toward sustainable and digital mobility. The Head of Government Affairs will play a crucial role in this endeavor, serving as a trusted advisor to the Secretary General and a key member of the leadership team, the organization says.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Government Affairs will be responsible for developing and implementing effective lobbying strategies, setting the industry agenda, and managing a dedicated team of two professionals. This role involves:

  • Lobbying Strategy Development: Designing and executing comprehensive lobbying strategies to influence policymakers, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders. Staying informed on legislative and regulatory developments to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Agenda Setting: Collaborating with internal stakeholders to build consensus on the industry agenda and proactively identifying emerging issues.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivating strong relationships with policymakers, government officials, industry partners, and stakeholders. Representing CLEPA at meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Communication and Advocacy: Developing compelling advocacy messages and ensuring a coordinated public affairs approach with the communications team.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Providing timely updates and analysis on legislative developments and preparing regular reports on advocacy activities.
  • Team Management: Leading a team of two public affairs professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture, and supporting the overall effectiveness of CLEPA.
