CAWA, the automotive aftermarket trade association which represents auto parts jobbers, retailers, warehouse distributors, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives and program groups, is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2020 automotive high school teachers’ scholarship awards.
Named the Motorcar Parts of America – Selwyn Joffe awards, CAWA provided three scholarships this year to high school teachers to support their automotive programs.
“CAWA is proud to assist these automotive high school teachers, in part, to assure their programs remain viable and well-resourced for the benefit of their students and our industry,” said Rodney Pierini, president and CEO, in announcing the awards.
Recipients of the scholarships include:
•Eric Neubauer, Torrey Pines High School (pursuit of teacher’s certification)
•Vartkes Gary Semerdjian, Santa Ynez High School (pursuit of program certification), and
•Ed Woodworth, Tri Valley Regional Occupational Program – Livermore High School (scan tool for in classroom use)
After a gracious contribution to establish the program by the University of the Aftermarket Foundation, the primary scholarship fundraising effort is CAWA’s annual dinner gala held traditionally the Sunday night before the AAPEX and SEMA shows.
However, this year the gala was cancelled due to COVID – 19 and was re-scheduled for next year on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
