The fifth edition of Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City, the renowned trade show that explores the evolving automotive supply chain, is set to run from June 23-25, 2023, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center.

This year, the event shines a spotlight on the electric vehicle (EV) industry, as Vietnam positions itself to become a leading manufacturer in this field.

In 2022, Vietnam boasted an impressive 8 percent GDP growth, the most rapid in Southeast Asia. The manufacturing sector, particularly the automotive industry, was a significant driver behind this surge. As a testament to the nation’s burgeoning potential, international companies are flocking to invest in Vietnam, enticed by free trade agreements and cost-competitiveness.

In line with this growth, the Vietnamese government launched an EV industry development plan. This strategic initiative aims to capitalize on the country’s rapid urbanization and modernization by focusing on EV development.

As the country fast-tracks EV consumption and production, it could emerge as one of the fastest ASEAN member states to do so. The government’s prioritized investment plans and tax incentives are designed to stimulate domestic companies in the value chain and promote the adoption of electric two and four-wheelers.

An exemple of this strategy is Vinfast, a Vietnamese company partnering with international brands to enhance production, improve product quality, and assert its position in the global EV market.

Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City 2023 will showcase exhibitors from Vietnam and around the globe. The event is divided into zones for Automotive Manufacturing & Automation, Auto Service & Maintenance, Accessories & Customizing, and EV & IoT. These areas are poised to reflect the latest industry trends and developments.

The event will also host a series of conferences and workshops aimed at electrification, digitalization, and talent nurturing, with the objective of transforming Vietnam into a comprehensive automotive manufacturing hub.
Key event highlights will include the Automechanika Connected Exchange, the Smart Factory and Industry 4.0 Conference, and the Electrification and Digitalisation Conferences. These platforms will provide a stage for industry leaders to discuss methods of enhancing the vehicle lifecycle in the era of electrification and digitalization.

Additionally, the Auto Service and Maintenance Workshop will address the growing need for talent nurturing in the industry. This focus aims to meet demand and increase productivity in both manufacturing and after-sales services in the local market.
